What is FIRST Lego League Explore?
Formerly known as FLL Jr, children ages 6-9, (Grades 1-3) captures young children’s curiosity and directs it towards discovering the wonders of science and technology. This program features a real-world scientific concepts to be explored through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, teams use LEGO bricks to build a model that moves and develop a Show Me Poster to illustrate their journey.
Children get to:
Þ Design and build a challenge-related model using LEGO components
Þ Create a Show Me Poster and practice presentation skills
Þ Explore challenges facing today’s scientists
Þ Discover real-world math and science
Þ Begin developing teamwork skills
Þ Choose to participate in expos and showcases
Þ Engage in team activities guided by FLL Core Values
Sylvania STEM Center’s FIRST Lego League Explore (Jr.) Session 1
Meeting dates: September 25th; October 2,9,16,23,30; November 6,13,20,; December 4.
4:15-5:15 or 5:45-6:45 or 7:15-8:15
Session 1 is limited to 4 teams (6 youth per team) per time slot—There will be 10 meetings, plus the exposition. Site for the expo. to be determined and could even end up virtual, December 12th. We will need one parent coach for each of the teams. Participant sign up will be a first come first serve process.
